EnerVenue begins producing nickel-hydrogen batteries in eastern China
The California-based company says it can produce 250 MWh annually in Changzhou and plans to expand to 1 GWh in 2027.
EnerVenue, a California-based start-up co-founded by Full Vision Capital, the family office of Hong Kong tycoon Peter Lee Ka-kit, has started manufacturing nickel-hydrogen batteries at its factory in Changzhou, in eastern China’s Jiangsu province, according to the South China Morning Post.
The company says it can produce 250 megawatt-hours (MWh) of batteries annually at the Changzhou site and plans to raise capacity to one gigawatt-hour (GWh) in 2027.
EnerVenue expects its battery to challenge existing energy-storage technologies dominated by mainland Chinese players, as global demand for green energy rises.
Its CEO, Henning Rath, told the South China Morning Post that the company believes it is competitive across key performance metrics in the energy-storage segment.
