Hong Kong sets June 30 deadline for Hetao talent flow pilot

The June 30 timing follows a Hong Kong pledge to enable free movement of data by the end of this year.

Hong Kong’s technology minister, Sun Dong, said cross-boundary talent flows within the Hetao innovation hub are expected to launch no later than June 30 next year. He made the comment on a radio programme on Sunday, setting the latest start date for the initiative.

The announcement came after Hong Kong’s leader pledged to enable free movement of data by the end of this year. Sun said the pilot for data flows should begin as soon as possible, with the people movement to start by the June 30 deadline at the latest.
