Asia ends mixed as Europe mostly stalls

Asian indexes split the tape, while the main European benchmarks move little overall.

Asia closes with a mixed tone. The Kospi leads with a 2.3% gain, the Hang Seng rises 0.6%, and the Shanghai Comp. adds 0.6%. On the downside, the Nikkei 225 slips 0.1%, the Sensex falls 0.2%, and the ASX 200 loses 0.3%.

Japan, China, and Korea show the clearest upside, but the region is not moving in lockstep. The Kospi’s 15.6% one-month gain stands out, while the Nikkei remains near flat for the week. The Sensex is weak on the day and sits below its 200-day average.

Europe is more subdued. The DAX edges up 0.1% and the CAC 40 gains 0.3%, while the FTSE 100 slips 0.1% and the Stoxx 600 is basically flat. The FTSE sits close to its 52-week high, down just 0.3% from that level, while the Stoxx 600 is up 0.8% on the week.

Among the broader international funds, EFA falls 0.5% and the TSX loses 0.4%, but the Bovespa ticks up 0.0%. The global tape looks uneven rather than risk-off, with no single direction taking over across regions.
