Bitcoin steadies as altcoins keep climbing
The crypto market cap slips, but several large coins post gains and stay above key trend levels.
Bitcoin rises 0.3% to 78800.1 and Ethereum gains 2.1% to 2495.3. Solana outperforms with a 4.6% jump to 101.04, while BNB adds 1.4% to 703.68.
XRP moves the other way, down 1.9% to 1.4058, and Dogecoin rises 1.3% to 0.0868. The broader crypto board stays mixed even as several major tokens remain above their 50-day and 200-day averages.
The total crypto market cap falls 1.9% to $2.7T. Bitcoin dominance is 59.1%, and Ethereum dominance is 11.2%. That means Bitcoin still carries most of the weight in the space even when altcoins move harder day to day.
A CoinDesk headline notes that Bitcoin takes a breather after adding 23% in 7 days as ETF demand holds steady. That fits a session where BTC cools from a sharp run, but does not lose its grip on the market.
