Anti-Asian hate crimes in the US fall, but reporting concerns persist

Almost five years after the pandemic-era surge in anti-Asian hate in the United States, new FBI data points to a national decline, though advocates say concerns remain amid immigration crackdowns and heightened US-China geopolitical tensions, according to South China Morning Post Economy.
SCMP Economy reports that an anti-Hate survey by Stop AAPI Hate, a self-reporting platform formed during the pandemic, found that almost half of respondents said they had been targeted but many chose not to report incidents to authorities out of fear of repercussions.

Asian-Americans Advancing Justice director Sim J. Singh Attariwala said the decline in 2025 still leaves reported incidents elevated more than two and a half times versus the historical baseline.
