HYPE jumps after Trump says CFTC is working to bring Hyperliquid to US
Hyperliquid is known for perpetual futures, and Trump said the CFTC is pursuing a fully compliant path to bring the platform into the regulated U.S. derivatives market.
HYPE surged 11% after President Donald Trump said the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission is working to bring Hyperliquid into the United States in a fully compliant and legal fashion, according to CoinDesk and The Block.
Trump made the remarks during a White House event with crypto and technology executives, including Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, and Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev, along with leaders from Nasdaq and Intercontinental Exchange.
Hyperliquid is a blockchain-based exchange best known for perpetual futures, or perps, which let traders bet on an asset’s price without owning it and have no expiration date.
CoinDesk notes that U.S. trading venues have been moving into perpetual-style offerings, including CFTC-cleared Coinbase Derivatives for bitcoin and ether futures, as well as a similar product from Kalshi, while the article says bringing Hyperliquid itself onshore would require meeting U.S. rules for registration, customer protections, and market oversight.
